Windows and Macintosh are two of the operating systems you have probably become knowledgeable with. The operating system is the “base” of your computer; when you turn your computer on the operating system allows you to open programs and do things like browse the internet or play games. In school, we use Macintosh based computers. Many of your home computers are Windows based. When it was first formed, Windows was almost a clone of Macintosh. Today, Windows is the best operating system for you for a variety of reasons.

First of all, Windows is far better for gaming than Macintosh. All of the big titles (the Call of Duty series, for example) are available on Windows, whereas they are not available for Macintosh. Inside Macintosh is some sort of a graphics card (the physical “card” that handles what shows up on your monitor). This graphics card is inferior as it uses only OpenGL 4.0. OpenGL can be thought of as an “engine” that handles how well your graphics look, especially in gaming. Windows computers also have a graphics card, but this card supports OpenGL 4.0 AND Direct X 10/11. Direct X is the same idea as OpenGL, a graphics “engine”, but it is far superior. Almost every game you buy requires Direct X (take a look at a box of even an older game). Windows computers are able to make your games look better than the same game on Mac, making them both the gaming leader and the best choice for a gamer.

Windows computers are simply cheaper than Macintosh computers, making them far less costly on your/your parents’ wallets. A Windows computer can be $200-600 cheaper than a comparable Macintosh computer. This is due to competition. Apple is the only company that manufactures Macintosh computers. There are many different companies that manufacture Windows-based computers, namely Dell, HP, Acer, and Compaq. Windows is also cheaper in the long run, as updates are free. Mac’s updates cost upwards of $30 each. Because Windows based computers are cheaper than Mac based computers, buying one yourself or convincing your parents to buy one is both smarter and easier than buying a Macintosh computer.

Windows based computers are easier to use than Macintosh based computers. The task-bar is a bar where you minimize things to/open things from, located on the bottom of your screen at all times. On Macintosh, a dock is the equivalent. On a Windows based computer, you can see previews (on the task-bar) of what’s open by hovering over what you minimized. You can also turn your computer off from the task-bar. Neither of these tasks can be accomplished with the Macintosh dock. Windows’ layout makes more sense and is easier to use.

Both Windows and Macintosh probably do everything you’d like them to do, but Windows does them better. Windows is great for the gamer. More high quality games are available for Windows, and they run faster/better than their counterparts on Macintosh. Windows computers are cheaper than Macintosh computers. This makes it smarter and easier to purchase with your (likely) limited income/your parent’s money. Finally, Windows computers are easier to use than Macintosh computers. When you need to do something with Windows, it just makes sense. For these reasons, your next computer, whether it be one your parents buy or one you buy yourself, should be windows based.

As most of you know, there is a new exploit for the Wii called Bannerbomb which essentially replaces the twilight hack. Bannerbomb can be used on all firmware versions and requires nothing more than a SD card. Here is a guide to using Bannerbomb with your Wii to run Homebrew.

First, download this file (this works for almost all versions of the Wii, but if for some reason it does not work for you then go to this website and choose one of the other versions of bannerbomb).

***PLEASE NOTE***
If you are installing this on system menu 4.2, you must use THIS bannerbomb file. Again, if this file doesn’t work, you must visit THIS site and choose another one of the many packages.

Unzip the contents of the bannerbomb zipped file to the root of your SD card (it is recommended that you format the SD card first).

Download the Hackmii Installer 0.6 from this link.

Unzip the contents to your desktop.

Look inside the folder and find the file named “installer.elf”     (It might be “installer.dol”)

Take the “.elf” file and rename it to “boot.elf”     (You might have to rename a .dol file instead of a .elf file)

Move the file “boot.elf” to the root of your SD Card.

Remove the SD card from your computer and put it into your Wii.

Go to the data settings and click on the SD card. It should ask “Do you want to load “boot.elf”" Click yes.

Start the installer and choose the option to install the homebrew channel. Unless you are experienced with the Wii, then do not install Bootmii. After you have installed the HBC, then it will restart. In your main menu, you should now have the Homebrew Channel.
